Nicely written, Chetan. I'm reminded of a quote that says "Calm seas do not make skilled sailors". There's a reason for comfort zones...they make navigating daily life easier. But in an ever-changing cultural environment, they often get in the way of improving our overall impact and effectiveness.

I always keep in mind the idea that working through differences is like iron sharpening iron. This is often very difficult for people to accept, however, evolution is a refining process that requires friction. But over time what was once cold and jagged becomes smooth and warm to the touch and everyone celebrates everything it took to get there. Such is the nature of relationships.

Great perspective! This is the first time I felt like I wasn't being lectured, or less than I should be. It is important to realize that, as human beings, we gravitate toward those who are similar. We shouldn't be made to feel badly for that, we just need awarness It takes some effort to get away from what's comfortable in any situation, but the effort is worth it.
